The Costa Blanca (the White Coast) is located in the centre of the Spanish Mediterranean Coastline. Numerous civilizations have settled and fought in this area over the centuries. Much evidence of the Romans and the Moors can be seen in many places along the South Costa Blanca.

The bustling coastal town of Torrevieja is situated about 45 kms south of Alicante. Torrevieja is fast becoming one of the most popular towns along the coast. Still a genuine fishing town, Torrevieja bustles all year round. You will find good shopping, great seafood, a la carte restaurants, clean beaches, pretty coves, plenty of golf courses, nightlife and that warm Mediterranean atmosphere. Just south of Torrevieja on the Orihuela Costa you will find a good selection of sandy beaches, marinas, and three excellent 18 hole golf courses. The life style is quite simple…relaxed, warm, friendly and full of time for you to do what you want to do. Most days are sunny and bright even in the winter; you can live your life out of doors. The Costa Blanca with Torrevieja in particular is now considered to be one of the healthiest places in the world to live. Transportation

The South Costa Blanca is easily accessible by land, sea or air. Alicante airport to the north and Murcia airport to the south provide daily service to the area. The region is within driving distance of the UK with motorways and dual carriage ways from the moment you leave the ferry in France, meeting the A7 motorway which runs parallel with the coast from the French border south beyond Alicante. In addition there is rail service and various seaports along the coast. The choices are extensive.

Sports

Sailing and scuba diving are without a doubt two of the sports par excellence on the Costa Blanca. Hiking and caving have an enthusiastic following, as do tennis and bowls. There are superb Golf courses to suite all abilities and handicaps. There are also many marinas along this stretch of coastline.

Leisure and Recreation

All along the Costa Blanca, you will find all manner of leisure activities including Horse riding, Safari parks, Casinos and Aqua parks. The beaches are plentiful and vary from vast expanses of sand to small pebble coves. Most of them are delightful and are extremely safe for children. The majority of the beaches have been awarded the EEC Blue Flag for cleanliness. This area has the added benefit of being designated by the World Health Organization as one of the “HEALTHIEST” environments in which to live.

Castles, Museums & Galleries

Spain is a land full of castles and the Costa Blanca is no exception. Alicante boasts an archaeological museum, a bonfire museum and a 20th Century art gallery. There is a pottery museum at Agost and further archaeological museums at Alcoy, Denia, Eliche and Javea. Also a must see is the delightful toy museum at Ibi. During the past two decades a number of major factors have ensured that Spain enjoys long- term growth and stability. The change from dictatorship, coupled with Spain’s entry into the EEC, has brought prosperity unthought of 30 years ago.
More recently Spain said goodbye to it’s peseta and welcomed the Euro. Having one of the world’s finest and healthiest climates helps, with an average 320 days of sunshine and no real extremes makes the Costa Blanca really a great place to be. In addition, the low cost of living, the excellent medical facilities and the high standard educational facilities are added benefits to living in Spain.
